About Newtel 

Newtel is a fully licensed Public Telecommunication Operator (PTO) in  Jersey , providing a range of hosting, private circuit, Internet and voice services over its own infrastructure. Newtel was founded in 1997 in response to the demand from the business and residential markets for an alternative to the incumbent operators in the Channel Islands. Newtel was awarded a PTO licence in Jersey in 2003. 

At the beginning of 2007, the first Channel Islands residential internet telephony service was launched in Jersey  under the brand name “Newtel Broadband Talk”. Later in the year, saw the launch of the corporate service “Newtel Business Talk” with some exiting pricing options across the board.

Internet telephony or voice over internet protocol (VOIP) services allow competing telecommunications companies to bypass the expensive stranglehold of the traditional legacy local telephone networks by using the internet connection instead. In this way Newtel can offer staggering discounts on conventional call charges. For example Newtel Broadband Talk provides savings of up to 94% but calls between Newtel customers are completely free.




Newtel currently serves over 12,000 business, government and residential customers.
